Skin color observations from a 4 year old

We were driving down the road to bring my husband something at his office and Dylann saw a man walking down the street in the distance. He said, "There's daddy!" I replied, "No, that's not Daddy, that's someone else." He tried again, "That's Sgt. Thomas!" Then he corrected himself, "No, Sgt. Thomas is black." I snatched this opportunity to teach a little lesson, "You're right. You know, people can have different colored skin, but everyone is the same underneath." Dylann asked, "What color are we?" I answer, "What color do you think we are ?""We're gray."
